Pottery workshop

A practical, creative workshop, adapted to each group. You do not need any experience: together we choose the activity according to the age of the participants and what the group wants. Every participant creates their own piece, which they can keep.

The workshop is for groups of at least 10 people.

At the potter's wheel

Each participant works individually at the potter's wheel, with a trainer alongside. You learn the basic movements and turn a lump of clay into a piece of your own.

Drawing and painting on ceramics

Each participant receives a pre-made clay piece, which they decorate and paint as their imagination leads. A good option for groups who want a more relaxed activity.

Tailor-made workshop

We adapt the workshop to the group's preferences, so the experience suits tourists as well as scout or children's groups.

Nocrich Ceramics

The pottery workshop is one of the centre's unique programmes. It started in 2014, to awaken children's and young people's interest in the traditional arts and crafts of the Hârtibaciu Valley. The pieces are made by master potters and the centre's volunteers, in an entirely hand-made learning process, using only natural materials and with respect for tradition.

Together we create:

  • unique objects — cups, mugs, bowls, medallions, magnets and vases — made by scouts, volunteers or visitors in the modelling, painting or decorating workshops;
  • 18th-century Transylvanian ceramics, distinctive Saxon patterns, recreated in the workshop by master potters and scouts;
  • the traditional "Roosters" from the roofs of Saxon houses. For the first time in 80 years, the custom has been brought back to life in our workshop, in support of the restoration projects for the old houses of the Hârtibaciu Valley.
